Language that connects

The state of Saxony offers people with a migration background the opportunity to participate in language courses under certain conditions. The aim of these courses – such as the literacy course – is to improve integration in all areas of social life and to strengthen social cohesion in Saxon society.

Requirements

Persons with a migration background are eligible to participate if:

illiterate in their countries of origin.
have no knowledge of German.
are not entitled to an integration course in accordance with Section 43 of the Residence Act.
if they are asylum seekers or their application was unsuccessful, are assigned to a district or an independent city in the Free State of Saxony.
they are not citizens of a safe country of origin according to Section 29a of the Asylum Act.
provided that they are tolerated, there is no case of § 60a.6 sentence 1 nos. 1 and 2 of the Residence Act.

Information about the course

Funding from the Free State of Saxony

Our state language courses are funded by the Free State of Saxony as part of the Integrative Measures programme. This means:

Course participants do not have to pay their own fee.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed from a distance of more than 3 km to the training location.

Duration

400 lessons of 45 minutes each

Aim of the course

The aim of the state language course "Literacy" is an elementary language application at language level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
